CREATIVE PANEL
In Conversation
This May, Artist Advisor Catherine Dolaher and I organized the inaugural Creative Conversation, an artist panel at the Alexandria Gallery Athenaeum. Moderated by Catherine, the panel facilitated a structured yet open discussion featuring Cris Clapp Logan, Elizabeth Bloom, and Riley Sheehey.
The discussion offered a valuable platform for sharing experiences, creative processes, and insights on working with high-profile brands. I was both excited and nervous to speak in front of so many talented artists and creatives, but it was an honor to share my journey to becoming a full-time artist. Hearing from others about running their own businesses was incredibly inspiring.

Key Topics Discussed at Our Event: Insights, Creativity, and Business Strategies
Make Time to Explore: Whether you're a full-time artist or just starting your artistic journey, keeping curiosity and a childlike play in your daily routine can lead to substantial growth. Embracing playfulness and exploration can significantly boost your mental health, reducing stress and increasing overall well-being. Additionally, this mindset fosters creativity, leading to more innovative ideas and solutions in your work.
On Creating for Brands: Continue to evolve your voice by pursuing opportunities for passion projects, I find this essential to my practice.
A significant part of all our businesses revolve around creating art for brands. We all felt that the best work emerges when you aren't afraid to speak up.
It's essential to collaborate with those who see and appreciate your unique contributions, fostering an environment where you can thrive. Feeling valued not only enhances your work quality but also leads to a more rewarding and sustainable career.
Listen to Your Gut: As you get further into your career, the same voice always comes up..the one that says "I knew this from the start" That rings true in a good or bad situation. Whether it's an art client with rigid expectations or a boss who limits your innovative potential, listening to your gut is crucial.
When you stay true to yourself, you not only enhance your job satisfaction but also bring a unique and valuable perspective to any role, fostering a more fulfilling and dynamic career.
After the Event
After the panel, we enjoyed wine and cookies while continuing our conversations, not just among ourselves but also with the audience. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect further and exchange ideas in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
